Volunteer Handy Person

Could you spare a couple of hours a week to help with odd jobs around The Winchester Beacon?

We are looking for someone to help with small maintenance jobs in our building on Jewry Street. From mending broken furniture to changing lightbulbs we just need a spare pair of hands to help us keep on top of our DIY jobs.

If you are interested in finding out more please get in touch with our Operations Manager, Bex Willis on admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk.

Would you like to make a positive difference to lives of people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to join our charity in a new full-time fundraising role.

About The Winchester Beacon
The Winchester Beacon (previously known as Winchester Churches Nightshelter) has been supporting people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire for over 30 years. Giving emergency shelter and tailored support, the charity has helped thousands of people to rebuild their lives and go on to independent living. Our vision is to transform lives, inspire hope and end homelessness.

Having adapted to cope with the pandemic, our focus is now shifting to the long-term and meeting the predicted rise in homelessness expected over coming years.

About the role
Through the engagement of new and existing audiences you will increase the provision of funding streams to enable The Winchester Beacon to carry out its objectives and continue to develop. Using your fundraising experience, you will work with the Chief Executive, Board and PR and Marketing Co-ordinator to initiate and oversee the charity’s fundraising strategy. This will include organising events, supporting fundraisers in the community, applying for grants and developing relationships with local businesses and community groups.

About you
You will be an enthusiastic self-starter comfortable with planning and managing your own time and workload. You will have considerable experience of charity fundraising with knowledge of grant applications and CRM systems. You will need to be a strong communicator and able to set and work to goals and targets.

Position: Fundraiser
Salary:  Depending on experience, in the region of £28,000 FTE
Permanent, full-time from 30 to 37 hours by arrangement
Location: Hybrid working from home and from our Winchester office with some travel as needed
