This Christmas, Winchester Rotary is supporting Winchester Churches Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester through the launch of a children’s book, ‘A Cat Called Smokey’.

The story book has been written by local author and Rotary member, Diana Brooks. It tells the story of a brave, three-legged cat who helps others, especially his homeless neighbours. The beautifully illustrated book is suitable for children age 3-7 and cat lovers of all ages!

The book is available to purchase online for £8 for collection from the Nightshelter or for an additional £2 it can be posted to you or to someone else if it is a gift.

Meet the author and hear an exert from the book here.

More ways to support the Nightshelter this Christmas:

A gift of hope

Give a gift of hope

At the Nightshelter, we inspire hope and transform lives. Residents stay for an average of 75 nights whilst working one-to-one with our experienced staff to find a positive way forward.
Can you help us to make a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness? You could choose to make a one-off or regular donation as your gift to a relative or friend this Christmas. Your gift will give someone hope and the opportunity to build a better future.

Be someone's guardian angel this Christmas

Be someone’s Guardian Angel

In a year when our homes have become our everything, we are asking people to give the gift of a home this Christmas. Just £10 will provide someone experiencing homelessness with a bed for the night, a home-cooked meal, toiletries, clothes, breakfast and a welcoming and supportive place to keep safe. To say thank you for your donation we will send you a macrame guardian angel, or you can choose to send it to someone as a Christmas gift.

Donate a gift

Help us to make Christmas special this year and donate a gift which we can give to one of our residents, former residents or a person sleeping rough. Perhaps you could choose to donate a gift for your work Secret Santa. Suggested donations include new socks and underwear, vouchers for clothes or coffee shops, chocolates, sweets and headphones. You can order via our Amazon Wishlist. Email admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk to arrange dropping off donations.
