This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), we would like to thank our volunteers for their ongoing support of our invaluable work.

Every week, over 200 hours are given by our fantastic team of volunteers. Helping with admin, cooking meals, cleaning, sorting through donations and endless other tasks they keep our service ticking with their kindness.

Volunteers help during the day, in the evening and even through night sleeping onsite in our guest room. Some of our volunteers help from home by cooking meals at home and delivering them to The Winchester Beacon for us to serve to our residents. Volunteers also help out at events such as at the Christmas Market.

Our Board of Directors is also made up entirely of volunteers who give hours of their time and expertise to help to steer our charity. Volunteers also come in weekly to offer free psychotherapy and substance misuse support to our residents.

Michele Price, Chief Executive commented: “We simply couldn’t operate without the loyal and generous support of our volunteers. We have a very small team of staff, to fill the hours that our volunteers give with staff just wouldn’t be a financially viable. Each and every volunteer contributes to our service in their unique way, it makes The Winchester Beacon a really special place. On behalf of everyone at The Winchester Beacon I would like to thank our volunteers for their help and support.”

Volunteering is flexible, after attending a short induction and practise session volunteers simply book in online when they are free to help. Find out more about volunteering at The Winchester Beacon here.
