This week, Jane Bastock, BIDs Business Crime Reduction Manager, virtually presented a cheque to Winchester Churches Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester donating money raised via the Spare Change for Lasting Change scheme.

Despite this year bringing its challenges, the scheme raised an impressive £2269.40 which will be divided between the two charities.  In 2020 smart stickers with QR codes were added to the city’s donation boxes and users can now tap or scan the stickers to donate to this scheme using mobile phones. An innovation developed to help charity collections evolve as society moves to a more contactless way of paying.
