On Friday 11th February, The Winchester Beacon and Trinity Winchester were presented with a £3,714.25 donation raised through the Winchester BID and Winchester City Council Spare Change for Lasting Change giving scheme during 2021.

The cheque was presented to the charities at the Winchester BID and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce ‘Meet the MP’ event for local businesses with Steve Brine MP at The Winchester Royal Hotel.

The giving scheme enables people shopping and dining across the city to donate money to help fund local support services for people experiencing homelessness. More information about the scheme and a list of participating venues is available on the Spare Change for Lasting Change website.

Michele Price, Chief Executive of The Winchester Beacon commented: “We would like to thank everyone who has donated to Spare Change for Lasting Change over the past year. We understand that it has been a difficult time for so many and really appreciate people choosing to support our vital work helping people experiencing homelessness in the city. Our thanks also go to Winchester BID and Winchester City Council for co-ordinating the scheme as well as all the participating local businesses.”
