This year we are hosting our Supporters’ Evening and AGM online on Monday 9th November at 6.45pm as the pandemic means that sadly gathering in one space is not an option. As well as giving an insight into how we have coped and adapted over recent months, the evening will include talks from our fabulous line up of guest speakers. Find out more about the content of the evening here.

Attending an event online can be a bit daunting especially if you haven’t done it before so we have tried to give you the information and answers that you need below.

How do I book my place?

The event is free to attend but we do need you to register your name and email address with us before the event. This is simply so that we can send you the website link that you will need to click on the evening to join the event. You can register here.

Do I need to have a Zoom account to join the event?

No, you do not need to have a Zoom account to join. All you need is an internet connection, you will be able to click on the link and access the event via your computer, tablet or smart phone. The link will not work until 6.30pm on Monday 9th November when it will go live ready for the event to begin at 6.45pm. You will be asked for your name and email address before being admitted into the event, your contact details will not be shared.

Will the hosts or other participants be able to see and hear me on the night?

No, guests’ cameras and microphones will be switched off. This is so that you can comfortably tune in from the privacy of your own home. Whilst we won’t be able to see or hear you, we would still like you to participate in the evening via the ‘Q&A’ and chat functions described below.

What are the ‘Q&A’ and ‘Chat’ functions?

When you access the event on the night, you will find the ‘Q&A’ and ‘Chat’ icons at the bottom of your screen. When you click on them you will be able to type a question or make a comment. You can choose whether you would like your question or comment to be visible to everyone attending or just the panellists. You can also opt to ask your question anonymously. Depending on your question, it may be answered in the Q&A function or verbally by the speaker.

We hope that this has helped to explain how it will work on the night. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us, admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk. We look forward to welcoming you on the 9th November.
