We are calling on Nightshelter supporters to get hopping this Easter Monday to help raise vital funds to support our extended services for people experiencing homelessness during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Join our virtual fundraising event on Easter Monday, when participants will set themselves the challenge of hopping at home for their target time. The family-friendly fundraiser is suitable for all ages and hoppers can choose to undertake the challenge solo or as a team and share the time between family members.

Michèle Price, Chief Executive of the Nightshelter commented: “We are excited to be launching our first virtual fundraising event! Over the past few weeks our operating costs have risen hugely due to our increased opening hours to enable our residents staying in 24 hours a day. We need help from our supporters to ensure that we can continue our vital work over the coming uncertain weeks. So let’s burn off some Easter indulgence and hop for the homeless!”

How to get involved in Hop for the Homeless

Going solo or teaming up?

Hop for the Homeless is open to hoppers of all ages and participants can take part on their own or as part of a team with your family or housemates. As it is it a virtual event you could even opt to do it as a team with a friend or family member not in your household and stay in touch via video call. Teams can choose to all hop for the entire chosen time or take it on as a tag team and take it in turns.

Decide your target hopping time

Set yourself a time goal for how long you are going to hop.  We have suggested an hour but it will depend on your age and ability so set your challenge.

Sponsorship

Download a sponsorship form or set up an online fundraising page on JustGiving or similar and get in training! We have set up a campaign page on JustGiving which you can opt to link your online JustGiving page, view page here.

Choose your hopping style

All hopping styles are welcome! You can choose to hop on one leg or bunny hop on two legs or maybe you want to bounce on your trampoline, just keep on moving!

When is Hop for the Homeless?

We will launch the hop at 11am on Easter Monday but if you can’t make that time then take on the challenge at a time which suits you. Easter-themed fancy dress is encouraged but not essential! We’d love to see photos and videos of you hopping, share using #hopforhomeless on social media or email to marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk. Perhaps you can go live via social media or video call on the day so that friends and family in isolation can cheer you on.

Make sure you use the tag #hopforhomeless in your social media posts and please do help us spread the word. Let’s get the nation hopping!

Let us know if you are getting involved

We’d love to know if you are planning to take part in Hop for the Homeless. Drop us an email at marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk so that we can add you to our hoppers and stay in touch on the day!

Can’t hop but want to help?

If you are unable to hop yourself but want to support our jumping superstars then bounce over to our campaign page and pledge your support! View campaign page.
